Its Spooky season!

Posted by Michelle Wilcox on

We all know this year is going to be different, no big parties, no trick or treaters but.......

spooky season

That shouldn't mean that we can't celebrate, if this year has taught me anything it's that we need to make the best of what we have! So I'm going to use the excuse of Halloween and use it to my advantage to have fun with the family. I'm going to throw a little party just for Andy, myself  and our kids, I'm going to get them dressed up, we will play games, I'm going to decorate the house and we will NOT let the current situation stop us having fun 😍
So I've been scouring Pinterest for some fabulous ideas to sew and make for Halloween, so I thought I'd share my top 5 with you!
If you click on the pictures it will take you through to the tutorials.
Halloween jelly roll cushion
I thought this pillow I found via Pinterest by would be fantastic to sit on a chair or the sofa, the kids would love it and it could come out year after year! Although the pattern says to use jelly rolls you can easily cut your own fabric into 2.5" strips and even use up your left over bits of fabric or if you are looking to buy more Halloween fabric check it out on my website here
last minut holiday bunting
Is it even a celebration if you don't have bunting up 😂😂 with not many sewing days left to Halloween, this last minute Halloween bunting tutorial from is another great quick make, and with the added bonus you can use up fabric scraps and bring it out again year after year!
trick or treat free sewing pattern
I know the kids won't be trick or treating, but I though making them a little bag and filling it with goodies would be a fun alternative, it doesn't even have to be filled with sweets, maybe a few packets of sweets, a small packet of crayons and a colouring book. Or maybe I might even do a Halloween hunt for them so they can find Halloween treasure! I found this free pattern over at Jennie Matterson blog.

Bat coasters

These coasters are just so adorable, I found them while scrolling through pinterest. Although it isn't a free pattern it is only $4 and is in pdf format and they are just too cute! And to be honest anything that would encourage my children to use a coaster is a bonus!

Simple gathered skirt pattern

free simple gathered skirt tutorial

Although this isn't strictly a Halloween pattern, this is a fabulous skirt tutorial, I've used it to make skirts for my little girl and would be perfect to make a simple Halloween skirt for your little one in one of the fab halloween cotton fabrics we have in. Scattered thoughts of a crafty mom, has some other fantastic free patterns, like the peasant dress pattern, I'm a big fan so you should definitely check her out!

There is honestly a ton of patterns and inspiration on pinterest, if you would like to see what I'm pinning follow me here

I hope you love looking through the patterns.
